CBN products – effect, use and differences with THC and CBD

CBN oil – an alternative to CBD?

In addition to CBD products such as oils, capsules, chocolates and creams, CBN oil is now also establishing itself on the market. In the following article, we introduce CBN (cannabinol) and explain how it differs from CBD oil and co. differentiates.

Cannabinol and its effects

Science has been able to discover 120 cannabinoids in the hemp plant so far. These are chemical compounds that are also called phytocannabinoids.

These substances are found exclusively in plants, but can interact with the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 of the human body. The receptors belong to the endocannabinoid system, which plays a key role in countless processes.

This is how it supports digestion, temperature balance and motor function of the body. Furthermore, it affects the sensation of pain and pleasure, plays a role in the immune system and assists the memory.

Thus, by docking with cannabinoid receptors, cannabinol affects essential functions of the human body.

This is how cannabinol is produced

Although the hemp plant is the origin of more than 120 cannabinoids, nevertheless they do not occur in the plant at the same time. CBG (cannabigerol), for example, exists exclusively during the growth phase in the hemp plant.

The majority of cannabinoids are initially present in the medicinal plant in the form of acid. These acidic compounds only transform after decarboxylation into the active compounds we know such as CBD and THC.

However, with CBN it is different. Namely, cannabinol is a degradation product of tetrahydrocannabinol. It represents its metabolite and is produced by exposure to oxygen and sunlight over a long period of time.

This process can be artificially induced. Naturally, the CBN develops when the hemp plant is not harvested and gradually dries out in the open air.

Old and withered leaves or flowers of the hemp plant have a high CBN content.

How does CBN act in our body?

Even though CBN is a breakdown product of THC, it differs significantly in the way it works. It has no psychotropic effect.

Research into the hemp plant is still in its infancy and has much work to do. While various studies and scientific analyses on CBD and THC exist, research on the subject is still very scarce.

Nevertheless, there are interesting studies that shed light on the mode of action of cannabinol, but do not yet allow us to draw any firm conclusions.

What is the difference between CBD and CBN??

Both cannabinoids originate from the hemp plant, but develop in different ways. CBD and CBN also seem to differ initially in their mode of action.

CBD is very effective for mental illness due to its exceptional calming influence. Thus u.a. the genesis of panic attacks, phobias, depressions and burnout are promoted.

In contrast, CBN appears to have a fundamentally invigorating effect on the body. Subjects report increased alertness and better ability to concentrate.

CBN application areas

While it is true that CBN and CBD differ in some respects. But look closer and the differences fade away. Both CBD and CBN can relieve chronic pain, help relax muscles, improve general well-being u.v.m..

CBN is also proving to be effective for bone growth. It was found that bone fractures healed far faster with it. The same applies to inflammation. Cannabinol is said to positively influence bone formation and inhibit inflammation.

The still rather unknown cannabinoid can also provide services in combating skin diseases.

Psoriasis, for example, is a form of psoriasis. Due to a misdirected immune system, skin cells are overproduced. White scales appear, causing severe itching and being unsightly.

CBN seems to curb the overproduction of skin cells, leading to visibly better skin appearance. Burn victims and patients of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) may also experience relief from cannabinol.

CBN also manages to calm the body and mind and thus, like CBD, actually proves its worth in various areas of application. On the one hand, it can be used to counteract sleep disorders.

On the other hand, there are possibilities for the therapy of all kinds of physical ailments, anxiety disorders and depression.

Can CBN be combined with CBD and other cannabinoids??

Research showed that combining CBN with CBD as well as THC has positive effects on the body. Impressively, for example, the cannabinoids THC and CBN together surpass the potency and duration of action of diazepam (sleeping pills) many times over.

Also, a combination of the two substances can have an appetizing effect. This proves to be particularly helpful for patients with eating disorders.

Because CBN and CBD are so similar in their effect profiles, CBD oils, CBD capsules, and co. can be optimally combined with CBN oil.

Notice: A simultaneous use of several cannabinoids should not be decided independently, but should always be done in consultation with the family doctor.
